If you have not heard by now, Uniontown Bar & Grill has closed. Yup, that is right, Closed.

In talking with the former owner, he said that he signed over his lease to Chase Bank. There have been some fond memories of that place. I remember, the Historic Anacostia Block Association and River East Emerging Leaders (reel) celebrating the original grand opening and then the reopening years later.

So we are loosing a restaurant, but gaining a new banking partner.

If you have kept up with the news, JPMorgan Chase & Co is investing heavily in Anacostia. Other than just giving their money, they want to have a greater presence in the community. So they will be opening a branch in the neighborhood.

Not sure if there will be time to have a going away party for Uniontown. Will keep you posted. Below is a pic from the past to remind everyone of the history of the building.
